Boy or girl?

Does pregnancy acne or looking “tired” mean a girl?

Myth

No. “Girls steal their mother’s beauty” is folklore. Skin changes come from pregnancy hormones, whatever the baby’s sex.

Rising androgens and progesterone increase oil production, which can cause breakouts, especially in the first trimester. It usually settles.

Check with your provider before using acne treatments. Some, such as oral isotretinoin and topical retinoids, should not be used in pregnancy.
